Meth Dealer Disarmed by Picnic Table during Police Chase
On 2/5/20, a La Crosse, WI Police Officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at which, James R. Dean, exited the passenger side, and a short foot pursuit ensued. As he was making his escape, he did not see a picnic table and collided with it. During his time of flight, a 9mm loaded handgun was flying in the air and falling on the ground. As a result, officers discovered 0.5 pounds of methamphetamine which has a street value of $8000.
James was charged with the following:
- Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Deliver
- Battery to Law Enforcement
- Felon in Possession of a Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Knife
- Resisting/Obstructing an Officer
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Probation Violation
- Possession of THC
- Possession of Narcotic Drugs
